Website and Document Localisation

Website and Document Localisation

Localisation is the process of adapting content to a specific locale or market. Translation is only one of several elements of the localisation process. In addition to translation, the localisation process may also include:

  • Adapting graphics to target markets;
  • Modifying content to suit the tastes and consumption habits of other markets;
  • Converting to local requirements (such as currencies and units of measure);
  • Using proper local formats for dates, addresses and phone numbers;
  • Addressing local regulations and legal requirements.

The aim of localisation is to give your website and documents the look and feel of having been created specifically for a target market, no matter their language, culture, or location.

Sometimes documents need more than a direct translation. Differences in culture and language can significantly impact your translated communications, making the difference between a successful international marketing campaign, or a project that needs a great deal of help to succeed abroad.

By using highly experienced native language linguists, GSI Translations is able to ensure that your ‘message’ is received the right way, no matter what country or region it is intended for.

Our Specialisms

With our head office in London, our forte is British English. We can work with project material directly from non-British English variants, or combine localisation with translation from other languages.

With offices in Prishtina, Skopje and Bucharest, our additional core strength is localisation for the Balkan region, be it in Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Greek, Macedonian, Serbian, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovene, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Kurdish (this is not regional), or other regional languages.

We also provide localisation for Maltese translations via our office in Valletta.
